Among the dead is an unidentified off-duty Raleigh Police Department officer, Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin said at a news conference late Thursday. Over an hour after police said they had contained the suspect in residence in the area, Raleigh Police Department tweeted they had the suspect in custody.
Another Raleigh officer was one of the multiple injured in the incident, Baldwin said. She said that officer, a K9 officer, did not have life-threatening injuries but said the conditions of the other injured were unknown. The total number of injured was not precise.
